Bryn Taff Racing would like to thank all our sponsors and anyone who helped us over the past season!
2008 was a year of many highs and lows. The year began well for Darren Jones in mid-March at Anglesey circuit where he recorded a 5th and a 4th but not so well for reigning champion Bryn Owen who suffered from engine problems, scoring a 6th but a nasty crash, resulting in a broken foot, forced him out of the second race. The mechanical problems plagued Bryn for several races which, added to his injury, made for a difficult defence of his 125GP titles.
The following meeting at Anglesey saw the debut of the latest team member Jonty Gordon who joins us for his rookie season in the 600 class, finishing a respectable 15th in a very strong field. With Bryn sidelined from his injury, Darren was left to represent Bryn Taff Racing in the 125 GP class and did so respectably with two 2nd places and two 1st places in the pre-95 125 classes. This would be the par for the season with Darren racking up multiple podiums finishes and Bryn following suit after a lengthy recovery process.
The season saw Bryn compete in two British Super Bike rounds at Oulton park where he qualified comfortably, though the persistent mechanical problems meant he was unable to score any points.
To add to the high profile BSB meeting the team was present at the televised Thundersport meeting at Anglesey circuit where both 125 riders scored credible results against big-budget national opposition.
Jonty's season saw steady progress in, arguably, the most hard fought class, from mid-pack to top 10's and highest novice. Darren's outstanding early season performance and Bryn's misfortunes saw Darren take the Wirral 100 and Cheshire & Nantwich clubs' 125GP titles away from Bryn in a nail-biting season finale where he went head-to-head with 125 BSB star Connor Behan. The champion was not only successful in the 125GP class but also made a whitewash of the Pre-95 125 class and was crowned champion in his first season in the class.
